Jiu-jitsu, also known as Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ), is a martial art and combat sport that focuses on ground fighting and submission holds. It originated in Japan and was developed by the Gracie family in Brazil in the early 20th century.

In jiu-jitsu, practitioners learn how to control and submit their opponents using various positions, transitions, and submissions such as armlocks, chokes, and joint locks. Training typically involves drilling techniques, practicing positional sparring, and live rolling, which is a form of sparring where practitioners simulate real-life situations in a controlled environment.

At Quarry Hill BJJ, our classes are led by experienced black belt, Dax Mitchell, with an emphasis on collectivity, safety, and consent.
